Day 01 Lhasa (D)
Fly to the holy city of Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. Locked away in its mountain fortress of the Himalayas, Tibet has had a unique hold on the imagination of the West. You are greeted by tour guide at the airport and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02 Lhasa (B, L)
Tour starts from the religious Potala Palace built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence. After lunch, you will visit Jokhang Temple, situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet.
Day 03 Lhasa (B, L)
Full day sightseeing takes you to Drepung Monastery. "Drepung" in Tibetan means the hill of rice because this white Monastery looks like a big hill of rice. This monastery occupies an area of 150,000 square meters with 7700 lamas and becomes the largest monastery in Asia. After that, you will visit Norbulingka Park. In 1752, the 7th Dalai Lama built the first palace here for successive Dalai Lamas to carry out their political and religious activities during the summer season. Today Norbulingka has become a public park for picnicking, relaxing and entertainment.
Day 04 Lhasa / Gyantze (B, L, D)
Drive to Gyantze, the once fortified city at the junction of two major caravan routes: one to India and the other to Nepal. Pass the giant Yamdrok Yamtso Lake, the holy lake of the Tibetan people. Visit the Palkhor Monastery upon arrival.
Day 05 Gyantze / Shigatse (B, L, D)
Take a coach to Shigatse. After a rest from the drive, you will visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, traditional seat of the Panchen Lama who is the second holiest man in Tibet.
Day 06 Shigatse / Saga (B, L, D)
Drive to Saga in the morning. Upon arrival, visit the famous Saga Monastery. Overnight at the local guest house.
Day 09 Saga / Paryang (B, L, D)
Depart for Paryang in the heart of western Tibet, where the four great rivers of South Asia orginate from their glacial sources around Mount Kailash. Over night at the local guesthouse.
Day 10 Paryang / Darchen (B, L, D)
Arise early and drive to Darchen that is the starting and completion point for the general circuit of the sacred mountain. Upon arrival, check into the local guest house and make the preparations for trekking.
Day11-13 Trekking around Kailash (B, L, D)
Accommodations are at the tents.
Day 14 Lake Manasarovar (B, L, D)
Trek along the beautiful Lake Manasarovar. Walk up to the Chiu Monastery, located atop a cliff, enjoy the spectacular view of the lake. Camping by the holly lake.
Day15-16 Darchen / Tsada (B, L, D)
The road to Thsada is terrible , and go over some very high passes, taking a whole day.We will spend a day driving to Zhanda, a small town situated deep in a valley. The drive itself offers a breathtaking view of sand-rock formations shaping the deep valley. We will spend another day in the area to visit the ruins of the Guge Kingdom, which ruled western Tibet 300 years ago.
Day17-20 Tsada / Lhasa (B, L, D)
Return to Lhasa by retracing the original from Lhasa. Arrive at Lhasa and check into the hotel to relax. Enjoy a farewell dinner.
Day 21 Lhasa (B, L, D)
Transfer to the airport and depart. Service ends.
